FERTILITY EVALUATION FAQ
Do I really need a semen analysis?
Yes. A well-standardized semen analysis is critical to the proper evaluation of the infertile male. Unlike many laboratory tests, the semen analysis cannot be performed with automated equipment. The quality of the semen analysis relies therefore on meticulous methods of analysis and the commitment and training of the personnel. ManCenters is dedicated to providing high quality semen analysis and is graded biannually against national standards. Quality control is rigorously performed every day of specimen processing. You can come into see us for a semen analysis, or order one online.
Are there specific factors from a semen analysis to take into account?
The important factors from a semen analysis are the volume of ejaculate, the number of sperm, the motility of the sperm, the morphology of the sperm, whether the sperm agglutinates (to clump) and the presence of other cells like RBC and WBC in the semen. The DNA of the sperm is also important but is only available through a complex semen analysis we order. Two semen analyses establish the baseline.
How do I go about paying for the laboratory services?
Payment for laboratory services is collected at the time laboratory tests are ordered. A receipt will be provided if you choose to file a claim with your insurance carrier. You may or may not be reimbursed by your insurance company for our services. Please check with your insurance carrier about available infertility benefits.
Do you take insurance?
Yes we take insurance including such plans as Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CIGNA, Memorial Herman Gold, Tricare and UnitedHealthcare.
We can also work with the Out of Network benefits of most insurances. If you have a doubt about yours, you can always give us a call at (832) 358-8600.
Where do I get my labs done?
While there may be more than one Laboratory Service Provider available, ManCenters recommends Southwest Andrology.
